Melike has been living in Germany for years, and in that time she has told her conservative Turkish family a series of increasingly elaborate lies: she has a glamorous job, a beautiful apartment, and a perfect fiancé named Mehmet, a doctor who adores her. The truth — that she is struggling to make rent and has no love life whatsoever — is a luxury she cannot afford. Panic detonates when her family announces they are flying to Istanbul for a visit and expect to meet the legendary Mehmet. In desperation, she blackmails her boss’s actual fiancé, the real Dr Mehmet, into playing the part. He is horrified, appalled, and — against every instinct — hilariously terrible at pretending to be in love. As the charade spirals further out of control, with nosy relatives, suspicious neighbours, and one very confused real fiancée closing in, Melike and Mehmet discover that the most perfect groom might just be the one who was never supposed to be hers. A fizzy, laugh‑out‑loud comedy of errors about the lies we tell our families and the truths we are too scared to admit.
